LANGUAGE ACQUISITION AND LANGAUGE LEARNING: DIFFERENCES AND THEIR EFFECTIVENESS IN LANGAUGE DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
Language proficiency has become increasingly important in today's globalized world. Understanding how languages are developed is essential for both educators and learners. Two major concepts in second language development are language acquisition and language learning. Although these terms are often used interchangeably, they represent different processes through which individuals gain language competence. This article examines the differences between language acquisition and language learning and discusses which approach is more effective in achieving successful language proficiency. The findings suggest that while language acquisition promotes natural and communicative competence, language learning provides a systematic understanding of linguistic rules. Therefore, a balanced combination of both approaches leads to the most effective language development.
