Relevance. Disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC) is a rapidly progressing and life-threatening condition characterized by a high mortality rate and the development of multiple organ failure. It commonly occurs in severe clinical states such as sepsis, trauma, burns, shock, and obstetric complications.
